My Tapjoy experience - an update

Original post here.
I'm writing this update because there are some lessons that I have learnt and want to share with the BBS community, now that I have had about a week to experiment with various Tapjoy features and offers.

What happened when I didn't get my reward for completing a Tapjoy offer?

  1. It should be noted that for my experiences, I only had 2 fail out of around 15+, so the success rate is fairly good.
  2. To ensure high success rate, I made sure to launch the app from within the Tapjoy platform, keep BBS minimised whilst I completed the offer in the other app, and then re-opened the minimised BBS after that.
  3. I almost always received my offer within minutes. If not, then I found that closing then opening Tapjoy sometimes worked to refresh the offers.
  4. In the event that refreshing doesn't work, then there is a waiting period (12 or 24 hours depending upon the offeapp). Once I waited out the waiting period, I submitted a support ticket. The process was easy: I just had to provide my name and email, the title of the offer, the app, and a screenshot showing some evidence that I completed the task.
  5. Turnaround was 2-3 days. I submitted my reports on Saturday and Sunday, and both were rectified by Tuesday.
  6. In the interim, I received emails from Tapjoy stating: "We deeply apologize for the delay as we reviewed your ticket. We've had a surplus of support request tickets as of late and we try our best to assist each and every one of them with the attention they deserve." Apparently with the increase in mobile gaming with COVID-19, Tapjoy are being swamped by the surge in activity.
  7. Overall, whilst a slight inconvenience to have the orbs delivered late, it was a fairly quick and easy process that only happened 2 times.

What about reporting dodgy offers?

There is a form for that too on the Tapjoy website, whereby they persistently claim that they strive to improve the quality of the service and customer satisfaction etc. etc. When you file a report you get a standard canned response: "We understand that you may have some issues regarding one offer on your offer wall, thanks for letting us know this issue, we will check the health of our offers in order to detect any issue and avoid this issues in the future." I reported a couple of offers for being somewhat misleading. Whether it works or is effective is unknown.

Casino app offers

An actual scammy site

I came across usenet.nl - a company (which I've known about for many years and thought were reputable) that offers high speed downloads and file sharing (I don't know anything beyond that). I have no interest in their product, but what I found particularly NASTY was how they set up their system to basically make it so that you cannot cancel your expensive subscription. Basically what happened:
I hope this info helps keep the community aware and informed about Tapjoy offers, including benefits and dangers. I'm happy to answer any questions in the comments. Stay safe!

[Guide] Neverland Casino Slots 2020 - Level 200 or 300

This guide is based on the format used in multiple previous guides made by u/Mikazah

Overview
The offer 'Neverland Casino Slots 2020' is based on an app for both Android and iOS that allows users to play slots with chips. The offer required me to reach level 300 in the app. The game is as stated in it's name, slots gameplay. This offer is quite easy to automate and you spend little time actually doing something in the app.

Be aware there's two versions of this offer, one is to reach level 200 and one is to reach level 300. I did the 300 one and it took me roughly 72 hours, I believe it's possible to complete the level 200 one in less than 24 hours.

Also be aware this guide is based on what I did to complete the offer, there might be other and better ways to optimize it further and I also can't guarantee this method will work for you as slots offers are somewhat random, based on what rewards you receive from cases, lucky wheels and other bonuses. And of course what you win from playing the slots will also factor in.

Details
Offer name Neverland Casino Slots 2020
Offerwalls AdGem & AdGate Media
OS iOS & Android
Countries that has the offer (that I'm aware of) US, CA, UK, DE, SE, NO, AT, AU, ES, FR, IT, ZA, NL, IN
Amount Depends on the site you use, offerwall, OS & country. I got $15.75
Time Limit 12 Days on AdGem
Time Spent Hands on ~2 hours. ~72 Hours idle.

How to play & Tips
Here's the exact recipe I suggest you follow based on my own experiences.
Use an iPad/Tablet or a spare phone if possible, so you can leave it running constantly without interruption.

The first thing to do when you jump into the game is to collect all the free chips you can, Facebook login and clicking links from their social media (didn't work for me, but I've heard others say it works for them). Also check if you've received any wCases (bottom bar) that you can open. After collecting all the free chips, start playing slots. Jump into one of the slots that offers auto-spin and don't require you to hit any button when you get free spins. Examples of these are 'Great Grizzly' and 'Temple of the Jaguar' when you get to a higher level. Also if you can, try to find out which slot has the lowest re-spin time as you want to make as many spins as possible within the least time. You're gonna want to start betting with the smallest amount possible, 10K. As you bet you will start gaining rewards, this can be anything from XP boost to wCases and chips. The start will require you to monitor your rewards for a bit. If you get wCases I suggest opening them straight away as you can hold a max of 3 at the same time.

Once you reach level 50 you will receive a 24 hour double XP boost. This will be crucial to use moving forward as it will speed up the level process a lot. You shouldn't take very long to reach level 50 even with minimum bets. After you've received the XP boost you should check how many chips you've got and scale your bets accordingly. According to the games FAQ this will make you level up faster.

If you want to level up faster, there are a couple of things you can do:
Spin more frequently, or try higher bets

Personally I didn't see a big difference in the movement of the XP bar when doing higher or lower bets, but I'll trust their word for it. Here's how I would scale my bets, I did it in a way that I didn't have to monitor it very often, you can probably put the bets higher if you want to speed it up further, but that will require you to monitor it more often to make sure you don't lose it all.

0-2M Chips 10K Bets
2-5M Chips 20K Bets
5-10M Chips 50K Bets
And you can scale it further the more chips you've got.

Now you just let it idle for a while and check back every 10 levels maybe to see if you get any case drops & to scale up or down the bets. Also remember to check back in every hour to open the hourly case you've received.

Once you reach level 100 you're gonna want to stay around as this will give you a medium case which can gift you plenty of chips, open it and go back to spinning. From level 101-199 the rewards are really lacking when it comes to cases and the XP bar will slow down, so you don't have to check in as often. You'll also want to check in when you reach level 200 as it gives you the best wCase for you to open. Personally I have never ran out of chips, the lowest I've been is 500k with minimum bets running, which is when I decided to try 'Journey' game mode.

If you feel that you're about to run out of chips, go ahead and go to the 'Journey' section. This is a game mode that lets you play certain slots for a certain amount before you can move on to the next one and receive rewards between. I would jump into the slot and just spam the screen with my finger to speed up the spinning process, then I'd immediately go onto the next one when it was unlocked and collect the reward between them. Rinse and repeat, only did it for like 30~ minutes as the rewards weren't very good unless you got lucky with a wCase. I've gotten a couple of wCases from the rewards, so if you're about to run out of chips this can be a way to get back on track.

When you're about to sleep, just leave the app running on auto-spin with the lowest bet amount possible without you losing it all while you sleep. Example: I'd never go above 25K no matter how many chips I had while sleeping, and not higher than 10K unless I had more than 5M chips. When you wake up in the morning, go ahead and open the 3 cases you've received while you slept and keep spinning afterwards.

This is all I did to personally finish the offer in 72~ hours with a total hands-on time probably less than 2 hours. My 24 hour XP boost ran out when I had reached level 210, so I think I covered a pretty good distance. Then it's gonna feel very slow until you reach around level 220 where you get another 24 hour double XP boost and another medium wCase, this put me over the finish line.

I'd also suggest leaving notifications on for the app, so you get notified about morning or evening bonuses you can claim. Also the 2nd day of playing you get to spin the lucky wheel twice a day, this will also be a nice bonus. The bonus wheel starts automatically when you enter the app if you're eligible for it.

I also think it's possible to complete the offer by being completely idle after level 50 or 100. This will probably require you to do minimum bets or close to minimum and it will take a bit longer.

UPDATE: For anyone who runs out of XP boost, you can get XP boost in journey mode, but the XP boost will only be active for slots through journey mode - This can be a great way to get XP quicker until you level up and get another regular XP boost and go idle again.

How to get more chips

Should you spend real money?
With the amount of free chips out there to grab, I don't think it's necessary to spend real money.

Can I speed it up further?
Yes, the more you bet, the more XP you get (According to their FAQ). I went the safe route and maximized the amount of XP I got from my chips without taking too much risk. If you increase the total bet you will get XP quicker, but you might also need more chips in-case you go on a losing streak and lose it all. Safest is what I recommend, but feel free to test collecting all kinds of rewards and starting of on a higher bet amount. It's also entirely possible that I missed out on certain features in the app or didn't find other ways to earn more chips.

Any feedback or thoughts on the guide? Any additional things I should include?

MAME 0.213

MAME 0.213

It's really about time we released MAME 0.213, with more of everything we know you all love. First of all, we’re proud to present support for the first Hegener + Glaser product: the “brikett” chess computers, Mephisto, Mephisto II and Mephisto III. As you can probably guess, there’s an addition from Nintendo’s Game & Watch line. This month it’s Mario’s Bombs Away. On a related note, we’ve also added Elektronika’s Kosmicheskiy Most, exported as Space Bridge, which is an unlicensed total conversion of the Game & Watch title Fire. If you haven’t played any of the handheld LCD games in MAME, you’re missing something special – they look superb with external scanned and traced artwork.
On the arcade side, we’ve added The Destroyer From Jail (a rare Philko game), and alternate regional versions of Block Out and Super Shanghai Dragon’s Eye. The CD for Simpsons Bowling has been re-dumped, resolving some long-standing issues. With its protection microcontroller dumped and emulated, Birdie Try is now fully playable. Protection microcontrollers for The Deep and Last Mission have also been dumped and emulated. Improvements to Seibu hardware emulation mean Banpresto’s SD Gundam Sangokushi Rainbow Tairiku Senki is now playable, and sprite priorities in Seibu Cup Soccer have been improved.
In computer emulation, two interesting DOS compatible machines based on the Intel 80186 CPU are now working: the Mindset Personal Computer, and the Dulmont Magnum. The Apple II software lists have been updated to include almost all known clean cracks and original flux dumps, and the Apple II gameport ComputerEyes frame grabber is now emulated. We’ve received a series of submissions that greatly improve emulation of the SWTPC S/09 and SS-30 bus cards. On the SGI front, the 4D/20 now has fully-working IRIX 4.0.5 via serial console, and a whole host of improvements have gone into the Indy “Newport” graphics board emulation. Finally, MAME now supports HDI, 2MG and raw hard disk image files.
As always, you can get the source and Windows binary packages from the download page.

Spades — 1.2
Every poker player knows that feeling —when you get the itch to play. I had just made $200 for dealing the bar poker league tournament. My girlfriend, Jennifer, was surely sleeping, and here I had Gary telling me to come down to play with $100 bonus. Surely, this had to be +EV. I was about to scratch that itch.
Being cognizant of the rake now, I text Gary back, asking him what the rake is and he replies, telling me it’s 10% up to $10. This sounded pretty reasonable to me, but I wanted some confirmation. Back in 2007, texting had not yet become the preferred medium of communication and although it was popular, a phone call was more often used. I decided to give Andy a call. No answer. I immediately received a text back, telling me that he’ll call me back in a minute.
I was driving on the Long Island Expressway and was a bit tired. I often stayed up late anyway, and was not much of a morning person. It was already late at night, so I decided to take an exit that had a gas station nearby. I pulled into a Valero, went inside, and purchased a sugar-free Monster energy drink. As I was walking back to my car, my phone rang — it was Andy.
“What’s up, buddy? I’m in the middle of a session, try and make it quick.”
“Hey man, I’m about to go play cards at this new spot. The rake is 10% up to $10, stakes are $1/$2 NL. Is this good?”
“That’s incredibly good. The lowest I’ve ever heard of, in fact. Where is this place?”
“It’s in Long Island, it’s a club called Spades.”
“I’ve heard about Spades. I didn’t know the rake was that low, though. Do you have to pay time, too?”
“I dunno. I just got an invite from another dealer I met while dealing a bar league tournament. He also offered me a $100 bonus for being a new player. That’s all I know.”
“New player bonus too, huh? Sounds very enticing. I might have to come by with you and play one of these days. Good luck, buddy. Let me know how it goes.”
I asked Andy how his session was going and we talked for a few more minutes.
“I’ve gotta go, I have to get back to the table. Word of advice — the first time I ever play in a new game, I’m never there to really play. I suggest that if you go, buy in for the average stack size and don’t rebuy if you get felted.”
“Why?” — Being the inquisitive type, I always asked questions.
“You need to make sure the game is clean. Watch the rake and keep track of the pot size. Play super tight. Cash out and leave if you don’t feel safe or if any of the players seem too problematic.”
“Thanks, man. Good luck in your sesh, I’ll see you soon.”
“You too buddy, gimme a call afterwards and let me know how it goes.”
With Andy’s input, I made the decision to text Gary back and give the place a shot. He texted me the address with some directions, and some instructions on how to get inside.
I was horrific with directions, though. I had purchased a Garmin GPS unit from Best Buy when I had bought my car, knowing that I would need it to get to Fox’s. I wasn’t familiar at all with Queens or Suffolk County. It was about the size of a small cantaloupe and stuck to the windshield using a suction cup. It was slow calculating directions, but it was accurate and always got me where I needed to go. I punched in the address that Gary had given me on the insensitive touch screen, and waited for it to start navigating.
20 minutes or so later, I had arrived. The GPS had brought me to large Chinese restaurant that had certainly closed for the night. It was located on a main road and was in a multi-story building with other retail stores in the same unit. I sent Gary a text, letting him know that I was there and he told me to pull into the back of the building to park.
I put my car into park and exited the vehicle. The instructions in the text Gary had provided me with directed me to ring the bell on the door that had a security camera with a red light on. I started walking up to the building and saw only one door with an active security camera. The lights were off, but the back parking lot had at least 15 cars sitting there, so I knew the game had to be going. I rang the bell and waited. Two minutes later, I see a guy who looked to be in his mid-twenties, approaching from the inside and the glass door opens.
“Can I help you?”
“Yeah, Gary sent me. We met at the bar poker league earlier tonight.”
“Come on in, follow me.”
I entered the building and walked up a flight of stairs to be met with, sure enough, a steel door with a security camera mounted to the top right corner. The guy gave it a knock and 15 seconds later it was opened.
As I walked inside, I took notice of the place. There was one main room, which was quite large, that housed two tables, the podium, and a tall Craftsman locking toolbox. On either side of the main room, there was a short hallway that led to another room which also had two tables inside. Both of the other rooms had a plexiglass sheet on the wall, which made it possible to see what was going on inside.
A rather tall, very muscular guy, waves me over to the podium.
“What’s up, mo? Who sent you, James?”
Not realizing it at the time, this was a simple test. He wanted to make sure I wasn’t lying about who had invited me.
“No, Gary sent me. I met him at the bar poker league tonight. He told me to come down to play and that there was a $100 new player bonus?”
“Gotcha. Sure. You get the $100 after two hours of play at the table. The game’s full right now, but you’re first up. Have a seat over there and make yourself comfortable. Drinks and snacks are in the back, the bathroom and smoking room are down the right hall. Let me get your name and number so I can put you on the text list.”
I give him my number and we exchanged names. Vinny was a tall and muscular gentleman who looked to be in his 40’s. He appeared to be very physically fit with slicked back, jet black hair. He clearly filled the role of both floorman and security. His personality was very direct and he looked you dead in the eyes when he spoke to you.
With my stomach growling and heart pumping from the Monster I had drank a little while earlier, I walk into the back to take a leak and grab a snack. I hadn’t eaten anything all night, the bar league didn’t provide any food. Only two options were available, individual bags of Wise chips or Famous Amos cookies. I opt for the cookies and head back into the main room, hovering over the full table to watch the action as I munch on my bag of processed carbs.
A couple of hands go by, and I could tell that my hovering over the table was making a few of the players uncomfortable. I was new, nobody knew me, and I didn’t want to be impolite so I took a seat at the empty table and waited for an open seat.
About a half hour passes and Vinny calls me for the open seat. He asks me how much I want and I tell him $200. He unlocks a tall, Craftsman toolbox and opens one of the drawers to reveal racks of chips inside. He hands me a rack with $200 in chips, and I sit down at the table to be greeted by the dealer.
“Welcome to the game. Would you like to post or wait for the big blind?”
“Thanks. I’ll wait for the big blind.”
Half a rotation later and I’m in the game. I took Andy’s advice and played super tight. 45 minutes go by and I open my first hand — pocket tens. I get no action, which I was not expecting. I drag in the blinds and toss the dealer a buck, not wanting to appear cheap so that I’m welcomed back.
There’s some chatter going on at the table in between hands, but no conversations that interest me. I’m starting to get bored. Music was playing in the background, and a song comes on that catches my ear.
“Anyone know what song this is?”
The player seated to my right answers me, an older Italian man who was very short in stature with a high-pitched voice and thick Brooklyn accent.
“Trooper With an Attitude, by 38 Special.”
“Thanks. You know you kind of remind me of Joe Pesci? Anyone ever tell you that?”
The room went dead silent, all that could be heard was the song playing in the background. The action came to a halt.
For what seemed like an eternity, everybody at the table was staring at me. I could tell by the Italian guy’s reaction that I had made a fatal mistake. Foot — meet mouth.
The Italian guy puts his hand on my shoulder, and with a firm grip, turns his chair, almost using my shoulder as a pivot point. He gives me a death stare, and finally the silence is broken.
“Watch your mouth, kid.”
I realized that he had taken extreme offense to my comment. I didn’t understand why, I had meant it as a compliment. I had recently seen the movie “Casino” for the first time and loved Joe Pesci’s performance. Regardless, the table was perceiving me as being in the wrong.
“I apologize. Won’t happen again.”
The action resumes and the Italian guy takes his hand off of my shoulder. I later learned that this guy was extremely connected and to never make him feel as if he was being disrespected. Evidently, his short stature and high-pitched voice made him feel insecure — it was not something to ever be pointed out.
A few more orbits go by, and I look at my stack. I’m down about $60. I hadn’t played any meaningful hands and I was card-dead. I had seen multiple players show down hands like Ace high or bottom pair for the winner, and came to the realization that I was highly outmatched. Most of the players at the table were really solid. They were constantly putting each other to the test, and applying pressure in spots they knew would make for a tough decision. I wasn’t going to make any money in this game unless I got lucky.
I see Vinny start to walk over to the table, holding a rack with a couple of chips in it. He stops at my seat and puts 4 green chips onto my stack.
“Here’s your bonus, good luck.”
I look down at my stack again to give it a count. With the addition of the bonus, I’m up $50. I felt a little trapped, because I didn’t want to look bad trying to cash out as soon as I got the bonus. I toss the dealer two greenbirds and get up to grab a rack.
I definitely wanted to come back. The level of play was much higher than I had ever seen, and I noticed that they were much more strict on the rules here. This interested me, because poker is one of the few games without a universal set of rules. I wanted to learn more about the rules of poker, feeling as if I should be well educated in the subject, considering I wanted to improve my skills as a dealer.
I head over to Vinny at the podium to cash out. He quickly counts up my chips, totaling $200, and hands me two, crisp $100 bills. It was no more than a few hours until the Sunday’s sun would rise.
“Thanks for coming. We’re having a $75 tournament later on at 3PM if you feel like playing. We usually get about 50-60 players.”
“Yeah, that sounds good. I’ll be here.”
I pocket the cash and make my way over to the steel door. I leave the room, walk down the stairs, and head for the exit.
I get into my car and start driving home. I hop onto the expressway and take out my phone to give Andy a call.
“WOOP WOOP”, I hear the sound of the siren as I look into my rear-view mirror and see a cop flashing his lights, singling me to pull over.
Great, just what I need — I had never been pulled over before.

To be continued…

Best place to play 1/2 NL Cash in Shreveport?

I usually play 1/2 NL Cash games at the Winstar in Oklahoma. I am going to Louisiana soon and was wondering where the best place to play 1/2 is. Bonus points if you can tell me how the games at said casino compare to the ones at Winstar. Thank you!

Overall Best Website For Low Stakes Online Poker

Yes, I know what you're all thinking.. how many of these stupid posts am I going to see. Why can't these freakin kids just read the subreddit wiki or the past posts...
Lol yes, I have done both of these things and even played online poker a few years back. I'm only playing NL Holdem and am going to be playing pretty low/micro stakes at 1/2 cent or maybe 5/10 cent max. My real reasoning here is that I just took a pretty helpful poker course and would like to practice the techniques and feel more comfortable to use this at lower (softer) online stakes before I play more casually in my local casinos and in vegas. Also, I am in the US but my state of residence is a "grey area" state so unfortunately no WSOP or Pokerstars websites. As for the wiki page it is very helpful but some sites like Global Poker are not even on there. The old posts (that are somewhat recent) are relatively helpful when they aren't extremely biased and start teaming up on certain websites. Basically I want to get a comprehensive taste of what your opinions are. The more opinions the better :)

I really would like to devote my time on one website. My ideal website to focus would encompass hopefully most of these rules:
  1. The site works in the US “grey area” states (so 888, Pokerstars, and WSOP are out of the question)
  2. Has decently soft low/micro stakes. (I don't expect fish everywhere, but something not incredibly tough)
  3. Doesn't have any issues in terms of money going in and out and allows for crypto deposits/withdrawals.
  4. No true evidence of a lot of bots or collusion going on.
  5. Lively cash games (although I might dabble in some tournaments)

Here are some things that I would like to see but aren't really mandatory:
  1. I would like to use PokerTracker 4 HUD if possible, but it’s not a dealbraker.
  2. A decent deposit bonus and rake back would be appreciated but again its not the end of the world if they dont
  3. I would like a decently stable software that doesn't have so many holes in it and constant crashes.

***PLEASE don’t just say a site name. Give me an explanation too! Pretend like I’m a huge noob (which I am).
Thank you for all of your help! I've heard good things between Global (which I’m still not sure if this is just one website?), ACR and Ignition.. but these are just a few to name. Let me know of any and please give reasoning! I appreciate it so much!
